Chicago’s chic moms enjoyed an evening of shopping and mommy talk on August 13 at Luxaby presented by Janet Mandell of Mia Bossi and Fashionaholic and host Lindsay Pinchuk, founder of Bump Club and Beyond.

The ladies browsed Luxaby’s selection of classically styled clothes for children, stylish maternity items and Mia Bossi’s new collection of diaper bags and phone cases. Guests also enjoyed teas provided by TeaGschwendner, bruschettas from Enolo Wine Bar and sweets from Sugar Hills Bakery.

Jimmy Choo 2014 Cruise Collection Preview benefiting Chicago Children’s Choir  

Eighty shoe-loving shoppers attended a preview of the 2014 Jimmy Choo Cruise collection on Wednesday, December 10 at the Jimmy Choo boutique on Oak Street.

The event hosted by Janet Mandell of Fashion-A-Holic and Alexis Cozzini, owner of Citizen Stone, donated a portion of the evening’s sales to the Chicago Children’s Choir.

Jimmy Choo’s 2014 Cruise Collection was inspired by French and Italian actresses from the 1960s. Cotton candy colored pumps, snakeskin clutches, retro polka dots and plenty of sparkle had guests dreaming of spring in the midst of a frigid Chicago evening.

 Real Housewives of Miami Season Finale Viewing Party with Joanna Krupa  

Joanna Krupa toasted the season finale of The Real Housewives of Miami with a viewing party at Public Hotels on Monday, November 4. Guests received invitations designed by ParadigmNEXT to attend the party decorated by Citizen Stone and Epoch Floral StudioSugar Hills Bakery created a stunning wedding cake.

To prep for her party, Joanna hit the gym with Alex Vasileski of A Mind and Body Total Fitness, and was pampered at Leah Chavie Skincare Boutique and Acchaa Spa. She then met with designer Christina Karin to pick out the perfect party dress. Joanna returned to LA the next day thanks to tickets from I Fly First Class to spend some much needed alone time with her new husband.

Tod’s Sella Bag Preview Party benefiting Chicago Children’s Choir  

Over one hundred people gathered at Tod’s last week to celebrate the new Sella bag as well as shop for a great cause – The Chicago Children’s Choir. Josephine Lee, Ellee Pai Hong, Lesly Koo, Meeghan Nemeroff and Shelley MacArthur Farley were the evening’s hosts and over $50,000 was raised for the Choir.

Painless Waxing Boutique Launch Party  

Painless Waxing Boutique celebrated the grand opening of their new 3,000 square foot spa located at 3146 N. Lincoln Avenue in Lakeview with a grand opening party on October 21. Hostess Debi Lilly transformed the spa into a glam girl’s night out.

The electric atmosphere in the Hollywood inspired, gold accented room was filled with 200 guests sipping champagne and snacking on adorable pink mustache and gold heart cupcakes from Sugar Hills Bakery.

Lines were almost out the door to try the spa’s services including eyebrow waxing, samples of Green Envee Organics body scrubs, mini facials, Jane Iredale makeup applications and energy and tarot readings. Manicurist Astrowifey was a hit with partygoers as they showed off their eye-catching nail art.

Chicago Children’s Choir Red Jacket Optional Gala

Red Jacket Optional is a unique experience, bringing together hundreds of philanthropic Chicagoans for a night of performances by 300 children in addition to the top-level #VoiceofChicago. The event will feature a debut performance of the Choir’s new afterschool program, the Englewood Neighborhood Choir, and special guest artists. Not Your Grandmother’s BINGO at Public Hotel

On Wednesday, July 24th, Public Hotel kicked off ‘Not Your Grandmother’s BINGO’, its monthly game night series. Hosts Sagar Sheth and Amelia Canham Eaton of The CHICago Life Blog served as the official, stylishly clad callers of the evening, which featured luxe prizes, mixologist Kalani Ben and deejay Will Galvan. With these event features, it was a fresh take on the long-lived game night tradition. And it was all to benefit a powerful, local cause – The Israel Idonije Foundation.

 

An Evening With the Israel Idonije Foundation at SUNDA

Guests filled Sunda‘s private veranda beyond capacity for “An Evening With The Israel Idonije Foundation” on July 11, raising more than $300,000 in donations for the foundation’s after-school programs. The Israel Idonije Foundation is a non-profit organization aimed at helping Chicago’s youth in underserved communities achieve their goals by providing after-school programs to develop social and emotional life skills. Notable guests included Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Chicago Bears Chairman George McCaskey, Chairman and CEO of Capri Capital Partners Quintin Primo, Executive Vice President of Mesirow Financial Les Coney, CEO of Heard Capital William Heard and CEO of Johnson Publishing Company Desirée Rogers. Ryan Baker of CBS and Angi Taylor Prinzo of 103.5 KISS FM emceed the event. An event highlight was an intricate football inspired cake by Sugar Hills Bakery to honor Israel Idonije’s recent move from the Chicago Bears to the Detroit Lions. Corporate sponsors included Michigan Avenue Magazine, Hennessy, Heard Capital, Rabine Group, Sunda, New York Life Insurance, Mesirow Financial and Sharbel Shamoon.  The proceeds from the event will be put toward expanding the Foundation’s current programs and initiatives.

 

#EXPOSURE2013 with A Mind and Body Total Fitness at Ohio Street Beach

Alex Vasileski of A Mind and Body Total Fitness is whipping Chicago into shape this summer with his fun beach workout series #EXPOSURE2013 every Saturday morning at Ohio Street Beach. Alex created the workouts in an effort to encourage a more accessible health conscious world by teaching basic exercises that don’t require cumbersome equipment or long days at the gym. As a cancer survivor, Alex makes community outreach a crucial element in all his endeavors, and #EXPOSURE2013 is no exception. Each week, participants are encouraged to bring a $10 donation benefiting a different charity for each workout. To date, #EXPOSURE2013 has raised funds benefiting Imerman Angels, Charity4LIFE, Michael Rolfe Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, Bright Pink and The Patrick Stein Foundation. The remaining #EXPOSURE2013 workouts will take place on August 10th, August 17th and August 24th, and will benefit, respectively, Young Women Warriors, Chicago Children’s Choir and Gift from the Heart Foundation.

Ewa Star Design ‘Spring into Design’ Launch Event – Private Event

Eva Star Design made its debut Saturday, June 21 with “Spring into Design”, an intimate launch event. Eva’s home, one of her own masterpieces, served as a perfect backdrop for this glamorous evening, where 25 close friends and clients oohed and aahed over the exquisite home décor and specifically-designed gourmet sweets from Sugar Hills Bakery. The Chicago-based firm specializing in contemporary design has eight years of experience in residential and commercial projects and provides services including interior design, space planning, styling, construction management, art consultation and design and fabrication of custom furnishings. Eva Star, a Polish native, grew up in an eighteenth century castle with 12-foot ceilings, expansive rooms and colorful rose gardens, sparking her interest in architecture and interior design. The detail-oriented designer ensures that her client’s spaces fit their every desire – taking into account their preferences for lighting, color, functionality and more.

Samantha Sleeper Pop Up Preview Party at 46 E Oak Street

To announce her arrival in Chicago, designer Samantha Sleeper hosted a preview party for her pop up shop on Monday, May 20th from 6:30 – 8:30pm at 46 E Oak Street. With the help of 100 exclusively invited guests, Sleeper celebrated her first ever brick and mortar location. Upping the significance of the pop up, which features Sleeper’s namesake women’s collection, is the fact that it brought her home again. As a Chicago area native, Sleeper chose to return from her current home in New York City – also where her atelier is located – to showcase her first Resort line as well as her Fall/Winter 2013 and Couture collections. Designs featured classic pieces in incredible fabrications, including rich textures and an array of eye-catching colors and patterns. Over lemon-infused drinks provided by Willa vodka, Chicago’s fashion lovers celebrated the return of a true talent and delighted in making the infamous Oak Street that much more stylish.

Care2Prevent’s Raise for the Roses Kentucky Derby Party at Diag Bar & Grill

It was a Southern-inspired affair as 200 guests gathered at Diag Bar & Grill on Saturday, May 4th from 2:00-6:00pm for University of Chicago’s Friends Against AIDS Kentucky Derby fundraiser, Raise for the Roses. The event successfully raised $33,000 for the Care2Prevent program, which provides comprehensive care and prevention education for Young People Living with HIV/STI in Chicago. Co-Chaired by Stuart Burstein and Janel Palm, emceed by Stacey Baca of ABC 7 and hosted by Alicia Roman, Paul Iacono, Alexis Cozzini, Alex Vasileski, Jacob Neminarz, Lonnie Rodriguez, Vincent Anzalone and Yana Nirshberg, Raise for the Roses brought several notable Chicagoans together for an afternoon of Derby fun. Diag was transformed into Churchill Downs with the help of guests in their best Derby attire, traditional Mint Julep drinks, Southern comfort food, a horseshoe cake and cookies by Sugar Hills Bakery, a pony and accompanying jockey, caricature artist Roger Hurtado and beautiful party décor by Debi Lilly of A Perfect Event. Other entertainment included a lip bar by Morgan Marie Beauty, a silent auction, raffles and a wine and dine selection thanks to the generosity of many Chicago area businesses. Other than the race, highlights of the afternoon were arguably the best hat contest and best dressed male and female contests, judged respectively by Julianne Glatz (Jg HATS), Lonnie Rodriguez (Genuine Entertainment Chicago) and Alexis Cozzini (SARCA). It was an afternoon of racing and raising!

La Ultima Cena Supper Club II at Four Seasons’ Allium restaurant

On Saturday, March 28th, the MDpr team, in collaboration with Genuine Entertainment Chicago, brought 100 guests together for the highly-anticipated second installment of La Ultima Cena at Allium Restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel. Guests enjoyed a delicious meal with wine pairings amongst great company and music by DJ Konsept (Edwin Morales). The dinner was created by the Four Season’s Executive Chef, Kevin Hickey, who’s Asian Fusion was a fresh experience for the palate. The menu included exotic selections such as Untraditional Korean Chopchae, the deliciously creamy Thai Lobster & Coconut Bisque, finger licking Singapore Style Braised Beef Cheek, Kohlrabi Ginger Pomme Puree, Persimmon & Spicy Radish Slaw. The dessert, Red Bean & Green Tea yuzu Gel paired with a traditional Vietnamese coffee, “Affogato”, completed the dinner on a sweet note.  Adding some excitement to the evening, one lucky guest was randomly selected to win a complimentary stay at Four Seasons. On February 24th, Monika Dixon PR, in collaboration with Glossed + Found, transformed Public Hotel into a mini Kodak Theatre for a special Academy Awards 2013 viewing party hosted by Alexis Cozzini of SARCA, Darnell Robinson of CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN and Jessie Kalin of WINDY CITY LIVE. The room was tastefully decorated with Sugar Chic Desgins‘ sweet tablescapes and the most show-stopping Oscars-themed cake from Sugar Hills Bakery. Each guest received a complimentary mini bottle of Moet & Chandon champagne that was decorated with festive Oscars props. The 120 beautiful guests were the stars of the night in their best cocktail attire, filling the room with elegance and enjoyment. Everyone in attendance was able to take in the glamorous show on two large viewing screens, and enjoyed music by DJ Kamil Bartoszcze during the commercial breaks. A best dressed contest added some friendly competition to the night as guests voted for their favorite male and female outfits of the evening. It was simply a fabulous evening!

 

SitaRam Opening Night Exclusive at Harris Theater

Over 1,400 guests packed the Harris Theater in Millennium Park for the red carpet opening night of rock fusion world musical “Sita Ram” on December 14.  A multi-layered collaboration between the Chicago Children’s Choir, the critically-acclaimed Natya Dance Theatre and the Lookingglass Theatre Company, “Sita Ram” retold the sacred Hindu love story, “Ramayana,” through song, dance, drama, fashion and design by talent from around the world all on one stage. Opening Night Exclusive VIP guests enjoyed a pre-party cocktail reception at the Harris Theater that featured hand crafted sweets by Sugar Hills Bakery, Cattier Champagne, Purus vodka, complimentary Indian-inspired costume jewelry and post-performance transportation to the private after party at Embeya.  After the show, guests mingled with the cast at Embeya and celebrated a successful opening night with authentic henna art, food and drinks.  The show was made possible by the host committee, generous donors and sponsors that included Walgreens, AVision Chicago, PUBLIC Chicago, KBE Entertainment, and Jim and Ginger Meyer.

Throughout the room, Samantha’s couture collection pieces were displayed and guests decked themselves out in their Holiday best accordingly. Amy DiTomasso from Sugar Chic Designs wowed guests with inspired tablescapes of Nymphenburg porcelain animals, glittered birch wood candles, gilded objets and A Vision glittered orchids. Each guest went home with a custom G&F x Samantha Sleeper tote with some of our favorite goodies (Leah Chavie Skincare Boutique facial, Custom Hair Lounge + Spa wrap and Love Bomb Lacquer nail polish). From a Moët & Chandon reception with vintage Holiday vinyl playing to the sit-down tea with french harp, this was one holiday event that will definitely become an annual tradition.

Jewels, custom cocktails and great company. What more could a girl ask for? Perhaps the latest Dana Rebecca Designs item to be named after her best friend, and to also win that bracelet for her? That was the ultimate prize at Dana Rebecca’s #NamedWithLove event, sponsored by Chicago Sun-Times: Splash on Tuesday, December 4th at The Residences at Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago. Guests, who attended with their best friends, tweeted or wrote down why their best friend was really the best, and the winning answer was chosen by the jewelry designer herself. The ladies in attendance shopped DRD’s latest collection, sipped on the signature cocktail ‘A Splash of DRD’ and enjoyed viewing four of Trump’s gorgeous private residences. Private jet club Jumpjet offered a Chicago Take Off party Chicago’s elite travelers on Friday, November 16th at the Bang & Olufsen store on State Street. Guests met Jumpjet CEO and Founder Will Ashcroft and were given the opportunity to learn more about the service that allows members to “fly private for the price of first.” Among hosts Les Coney and Anthony Berg, attendees sipped Grey Goose and Dewars drinks, ate Sugar Hills Bakery desserts and left with Macanudo cigars in hand given to them by Yana German School of Walk models.

On Wednesday, October 24th, Monika Dixon had the pleasure of co-hosting a Vogue & J.Crew cocktails and shopping event with Melissa Dunagan Skoog at the 900 N. Michigan J.Crew location. Tom Mora, Head of Women’s Design at J.Crew flew in from New York City for the event, along with Vogue’s Associate Director of Events Cara Crowley. Guests shopped J.Crew’s latest collection, enjoyed delicious drinks and bites and mingled amongst the many wonderful people in attendance. To top off a great evening, guests were given an exclusive discount upon purchase. With the generous help of the fashion-savvy crowd, a portion of the evening’s total $50,000 sales will be donated to the Costume Council of the Chicago History Museum. Decades Preview Party with Fashion Bingo

To celebrate the return of Hollywood vintage and modern consignment retailer, Decades, to Space 519 at the Magnificent Mile’s 900 shops, Monika Dixon hosted a sneak preview party with Decades’ co-founder, Christos Garkinos, as well as foodrazzi Amanda Puck, stylist/photographer Helen Berkun, ChiCityFashion’s Jena Gambaccini, and Glossed & Found’s Graham Kostic. Fashion-forward guests sipped champagne, shopped, and played Fashion Bingo for a chance to win Prada, Chanel, and YSL discounts and pre-loved prizes inside Space 519’s newly revamped space.

Quo Vadis Chicago 

Quo Vadis is Chicago’s first annual three-day traveling business conference for young professionals of Polish descent. This leadership event offers a line-up of inspirational speakers and interactive workshops that challenge young Polonia to take charge in their communities and in their careers, become more involved, own their identities, and connect with one another. The event brought in 150 world-class participants, including keynote speaker Laura Schwartz.

HBO’s Girls Sneak Peak Screening Party

A private screening party hosted with HBO and Genuine Entertainment at Chicago’s Salvage One galleries to preview HBO’s, Girls—a gritty comedy written and directed by Lena Dunham that went on to become the network’s most successful show that season.  The evening featured some of Chicago’s hottest fashionistas, cocktails, popcorn, professional photography and fun. This was one of Salvage One’s best-attended events.

Chicagonista owner MJ tam and 4Keys Media owner Beth Rosen gave expert social media advice to a room full of entrepreneurial guests eager to learn how to properly utilize and expand their Twitter accounts for sustained business outreach and success. Guests mingled over exquisitely crafted hors d’oeuvres and took in breathtaking views from the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago’s Delaware Room as they shared social media tips. 

The Women’s Dream Conference 

In tandem with NBC fitness expert Andrea Metcalf and over twenty successful, inspirational female panelists, the “Women’s Dream Conference” drew over 200 women to the Centered Chef on April 13, 2011 for an all-day workshop that delivered advice from panels of successful business women, motivational speeches, and networking opportunities. The conference closed with a personal keynote speech delivered by Marci Crozier, the popular contestant from NBC’s The Biggest Loser (season 11) who was the first woman in the show’s history to reach her goal weight while still at the BL ranch. HBO’s Chicago’s Finest with Trevian Kutti filmed the event.

“Success is a Journey” Networking Event

Over 200 Chicago professionals gathered at Hotel 71 to network and glean insights from keynote speaker James Tarantino of SuccessLink fame, FanFueled’s Anderson Bell, Boka Group’s Kevin Boehm, NBC fitness expert Andrea Metcalf, and Chicago Tribune social columnist Candace Jordan. A lovely, invite-only cocktail party hosted alongside Vincent Anzalone, Jerry Azumah, Toni Canada, Alexis Cozzini, Candace Jordan, Susanna Negovan, and Lonnie Rodriguez to celebrate Allium’s grand opening at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago. Allium’s executive chef, Kevin Hickey, shared seasonal bites from his delectable new dinner menu with over 500 guests. DJ Konsept provided the evening’s music, and Chicago actor Jeff Garlin of Curb Your Enthusiasm fame attended as a special guest.

 

Rally for Kids with Cancer

The Chicago Rally for Kids with Cancer Scavenger Cup is an annual car racing charity event that unites drivers, sponsors, and charitable celebrities to make a difference in the lives of children with cancer. The purpose of the fundraiser is to raise money in support of finding a cure for children battling for their lives. The rally challenges team members to hone their leadership, cooperation, observation, and problem-solving skills as they raise much needed funds for children’s cancer research.
